I’ve learned to keep the Notes app on my phone within arm’s reach at all times, especially when I’m eavesdropping on strangers’ conversations in restaurants like an absolute creeper. 

My official answer is no. My actual answer is that every person I’ve ever met has donated at least one quirk, one line of dialogue, or one dramatic reaction to the gene pool of my fictional world. If you think you recognize yourself… you’re probably right. Take it as a compliment. I only steal from the best.

Ha. Ha ha. It depends on whether the characters are cooperating, whether the coffee is strong enough, and whether Mercury is in retrograde. Some books pour out like sweet tea on a summer afternoon. Others are more like trying to squeeze lemonade out of a rock. Either way, I don’t stop until the story feels right — your reading experience is worth every single pulled hair.

That specific kind of book hangover where you close the last page, stare at the ceiling, and just sigh. The feeling that you spent time with people who felt real, in a story that made you laugh and maybe cry a little (no shame — I cried writing it).
